In trials in the rabi seasons of 1978-80, lentil gave av. seed yields of 1.69 t/ha with irrigation at 0.5 bar moisture tension, compared with 1.41 t with irrigation at 1.5 bar tension and 0.76 t without irrigation. Yields with 4 t straw mulch/ha and without mulch were 1.36 and 1.21 t/ha, resp.
