Rural social research covers a broader field than rural sociology as it includes socioeconomics, social statistics, health and welfare, as well as strictly sociological aspects. During the 10 year period surveys have been carried out on rural youth, rural women, part-time farmers, and the elderly farming population. Advances have also been made in the collection of statistics of working and living conditions in rural areas.
