Seed germination and seedling growth of Hardwickia binata Roxb

Nitrogen Fixing Tree Research Reports 2: 7-8

Open seeds and pods were stored at 10 degrees C or at ambient temp. Germination tests after 3, 6 and 14 months indicated no loss of viability, but there was a 9% loss after 24 months. Germination was best (97.8%) with the healthiest seedlings at 0.33 atm, but 60% of seeds germinated under moisture stress <less or =>12 atm. Treating large (217 mg) seeds with 100 p.p.m. ascorbic acid improved seedling emergence and reduced mortality.
