Sheath blight of cereal crops I: On the relation between sheath blight of rice, maize and wheat as well as soreshin of cotton

The sclerotial fungi causing sheath blight of cereals differed from typical Rhizoctonia solani on cotton in morphology and other properties. The wheat pathogen is considered distinct from those of maize and rice, which appear to be the same species. Differential data for the 4 fungi are tabulated. All 4 isolates were pathogenic to rice, maize and wheat but the wheat pathogen could not infect cotton.
