Shortening the selection cycle of reciprocal recurrent selection in maize (Zea mays L.)

A method is proposed for shortening the cycle of half-sib reciprocal recurrent selection from three generations to one. The first step is the production of two versions of the two basic populations of such a programme: (1) a yellow-grained version (A0 and B0) and (2) a purple-grained version (Ap0 and Bp0) homozygous for all grain colour factors.
