Somatic hybridization of cytoplasmic male sterile Brassica oleracea and atrazine resistant B. campestris

Somatic hybridization of cytoplasmic male sterile Brassica oleracea and atrazine resistant B. campestris

Dissertation Abstracts International, B Sciences and Engineering 47(2): 455B

High frequency of regeneration from protoplasts of broccoli (B. oleracea var. italica) was achieved when plants regenerated from hypocotyl explants were used as a protoplast source. Protoplasts from cytoplasmically male sterile broccoli and atrazine-resistant B. campestris were fused using polyethylene glycol. Plants were regenerated on medium which did not allow B. campestris to regenerate and which contained atrazine.
