Among 200 strains recovered from various tissues, 90 were associated with pathological changes and 110 were from apparently healthy tissues (nose and tonsils). Serotype 2 accounted for 56 of 87 strains, most isolates being associated with septicaemia (31 strains), pneumonia (13), meningitis (9), arthritis (12) or endocarditis (1 strain).
