Studies of thiocyanate (rhodanide) balance in growing pigs after feeding on rapeseed and potassium thiocyanate, with reference to thyroid hormone status

Studies of thiocyanate (rhodanide) balance in growing pigs after feeding on rapeseed and potassium thiocyanate, with reference to thyroid hormone status

Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 41(17): 596-601

In 5 trials a total of 126 piglets or fattening pigs had diets containing different amounts of rapeseed oilmeal, or KSCN, or none. Fish meal was excluded. With rape or KSCN serum and urine concentrations of SCN- increased and serum triiodothyronine decreased, whereas serum thyroxine showed little or no change.
