Studies on fruit quality in sweet cherries. IV. Fruit cracking in field or laboratory conditions

Archiv fur Gartenbau 33(4): 191-205

Studies were carried out on up to 16 varieties in 1971-1980 in the field and in the laboratory. In the field, differences were observed among them in percentage of fruit split, but the rankings of the varieties differed markedly among years. In the laboratory, where fruit cracking was induced artificially by immersing the fruit in water at 20 degrees C for 4 h, differences were recorded among varieties and years.
