Studies on insect pollination in Cucumis melo Linn

Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Apiculture in Tropical Climates, New Delhi, February 29 March 4, 1980: 537-544

Samples of bees were collected from C.melo growing in Ludhiana, India. Species of Apidae constituted 72% of the total number of bees collected in 1974, and 69% in 1975. Apis florea was the commonest species, constituting 66% and 63% of the 1974 and 1975 populations respectively. Species of Halictidae formed 20% and 26% of the populations respectively.
