Whey proteins from colostrum and milk smples taken from cows and 1st calf heifers gave 4 peaks, detectable at 280 nm, on gel filtration on Sephadex G-100 using 0.02 M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0). The mean proportions of the 4 fractions in colostrum taken on the 1st day after calving were 90.1, 6.8, 2.3 and 0.8% for heifers and 78.1, 11.5, 7.7 and 2.7% for cows.
