Seeds of the cultivars Calland and Hampton were exposed to 8 doses of gamma rays, ranging from 2.5 krad to 40 krad, or were soaked in 8 concentrations of EMS, ranging from 0.1% to 1.5%. In the M1, germination percentage, plant survival, stem length, numbers of branches, pods and seeds, seed weight and percentage of normal seeds decreased with increasing dose of the mutagens.
