The inheritance of morphological characters and chemical composition of the fruit was studied in F1 hybrids with a view to their economic exploitation. The hybrids had large fruits with a high content of dry matter, vitamin C and carotene. Most of the morphological characters were inherited from the maternal parent. As regards vitamin C content the hybrids exceeded R. canina and were close to R. rugosa.
