The development of study courses for tourism professionals - a model. In: Tourism as a professional occupation. Professional competence in the field of leisure and tourism

Schriftenreihe, Freizeitwissenschaft und Kulturpolitik, Universitat Bielefeld (1): 7-28

This article examines the project, set up by the inter-disciplinary group from the University of Bielefeld, which examines tourism as a career and the way in which tourism is taught. The continued growth of tourism has led to a need for more qualified people to work within this industry. The reasons behind the need to set up such a study group are listed along with the aims of such a group. The most important results of the group's work are presented, as are definitions of a 'tourism' expert.
