The direct and residual effects of trace elements on yield and uptake of trace elements by cotton

In field trials with cotton, effects of applying ammophos and urea enriched with Cu, Zn or B on seed cotton yield and quality were determined in 1980-82 and their residual effects in 1983. The trace elements, especially B, significantly increased the yield on soils deficient in these trace elements, but not on soils with high trace element contents. The trace elements increased the ginning percentage and fibre length and strength.
