The effect of artificial light, hormones, and rams on the reproductive performance of Finn-cross ewes during the seasonal anoestrus in Israel

The effect of artificial light, hormones, and rams on the reproductive performance of Finn-cross ewes during the seasonal anoestrus in Israel

Journal of Agricultural Science, UK 105(2): 375-379

136 pregnant adult Finnish Landrace (FL) X German Mutton Merino and FL X Awassi ewes which had been mated in Sep. were kept under natural (control) or artificial photoperiod. The artificial photoperiod consisted of an abrupt increase in daylength to 18 h for 30 days in Nov. followed by a stepwise decrease of 30 min every 10 days until May. The ewes of the 2 groups were exposed daily to rams after lambing in Jan.-Feb. or after weaning in Mar. or were kept isolated from the until mating in Apr.
