Using Simulium squamosum from Ghana, an immersion method based on one described by D.J. Lewis, G.R.L. Lyons & J.D.M. Marr (1961) was compared with a twilight method based on one by K.R. Simmons & J.D. Edman (1982) for inducing oviposition by females of the complex of S. damnosum in the laboratory. The results suggested that the twilight method was the better one for normal use; egg viability was about twice that for the immersion method.
