63 sows and 38 gilts were each given 25 mg progesterone and 12.5 mu g oestrone on days 16 and 17 of pregnancy, and 62 control sows and 44 control gilts were injected with oil vehicle. For the 4 groups resp., litter size averaged 10.68, 9.02, 10.37 and 9.32, the number of liveborn piglets per litter 9.30, 8.26, 8.97 and 8.32, and piglet birth weight 1.34, 1.38, 1.43 and 1.29 kg.
