The effect of the nitrogen fertilizer on the grain yield of spring barley in the region of Zupa

In field trials in 1979-81, spring barley Union was given 30, 60 or 90 kg N/ha before sowing or 30 + 40, 60 + 30 or 30 + 30 + 30 kg N/ha applied before sowing and as top dressings. All plots received 90 kg P + 60 kg K/ha. All treatments gave 24-46% increase in grain yield over control plots without fertilizer. The highest av. yield (4825 kg/ha) resulted from 90 kg N/ha applied before sowing.
