The effect of time and sowing and row spacing on the maturity and yield of three groundnut cultivars under irrigation

Groundnut White Spanish, Red Spanish and Virginia Bunch were sown on 29 Oct. and 3 Dec. at row spacings of 30 or 60 cm on alkaline clay soil. The crops were furrow irrigated between 1-m-wide raised beds. Max. oven dry pod yields were 3.0, 2.3 and 3.3 t/ha for White Spanish, Red Spanish and Virginia Bunch, resp. White Spanish and Virginia Bunch matured after 180-190 days at the earlier sowing date; for Red Spanish, frost stopped growth after 210 days.
