The biology of Tetranychus urticae and T. cinnabarinus reared on leaves of bean in the laboratory in Turkey was studied at 24 and 30 degrees C and at 45 and 65% RH. Both species developed more rapidly at 30 than at 24 degrees C, especially the males. Females had the longest lifespan at 24 degrees C and 65% RH, and T. urticae laid the largest number of eggs per female under these conditions, while T. cinnabarinus had the highest fecundity at 30 degrees C and 65% RH.
