The light-dependent control of gene expression in barley

The light-dependent control of gene expression in barley

Genetic engineering of plants and microorganisms important for agriculture: 128-129

It was shown that light-induced changes of translatable mRNAs coding for light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b protein (LHCP) and NADPH-protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (PCR) are paralleled by changes in the steady-state concentrations of the mRNA sequences; the translatable mRNA coding for LHCP increased upon illumination but that for PCR decreased; the effect was mediated by phytochrome Pfr.
