The long-term productive capacity of herbage species in relation to utilization regime and mineral nutrition level

The long-term productive capacity of herbage species in relation to utilization regime and mineral nutrition level

Izvestiya Timiryazevskoi Sel' skokhozyaistvennoi Akademii (1): 44-51

In trials in the Moscow region, a Trifolium repens/Festuca pratensis/Dactylis glomerata/Bromus inermis/Phleum pratense mixture sown in 1977 was given various NPK rates in 1978-83 and the swards were used for grazing (4 times/season), haymaking and grazing (3) and haymaking alone (2). The highest total DM yield with 3-4 cuts/season and high NPK rates was given by D. glomerata (50.4-51.4 t/ha), and with 2 cuts/season by B. inermis (58 t).
