The lucerne Sparta

The lucerne Sparta

Selektsiya i Semenovodstvo, USSR (2): 40-41

From over 300 lucerne forms assessed, Slavyanskaya Mestnaya and Langensteiner were selected. Crosses were made between the best plants of these and the best 15 hybrids were combined into a population. Following further selection the population Sparta was formed. Within this population plants with a semierect and a prostrate habit exist. Stems are 85-105 cm long. Regrowth in spring and after cutting is good, with the first cut at 61-93 days after the start of regrowth in spring.
