The maintenance of selection lines of Japanese quail

The maintenance of selection lines of Japanese quail

Scientific Reports of the Faculty of Agriculture, Okayama University (64): 37-44

Changes in the number of families, egg fertility and hatchability, viability and a fitness index based on the 3 traits were investigated in lines selected for 6 generations for resistance or susceptibility to heat stress (45 degrees C; HR and HS lines), cold stress (-5 degrees ; LR and LS lines) and reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV-R and REV-S lines), and then randomly mated within lines for a further 3 generations and compared with a line randombred for 9 generations.
