The marketing system

The agricultural sector of Sudan Policy and systems studies: 358-379

The marketing system for farm products in Sudan is not functioning efficiently. Inefficiencies in the distribution of commodities for domestic and export markets occur because of the poor infrastructure, inadequate market information and distorted pricing policy. The distribution system for farm inputs is plagued by the same problems. Inefficiencies in the marketing system have resulted in low incentives to producers, high costs to consumers and a continuous decline in the volume of exports.
