The mechanism of resistance to Verticillium wilt in lucerne



Research Bulletin of the Hokkaido National Agricultural Experiment Station (143): 65-74



Differences in resistance among 17 varieties and 4 breeding lines were apparent 2 months after sowing in inoculated soil and maintenance at 20-25 degrees C. Vertus, Maris Kabul, Sabilt and Lutece were resistant. Scores for the tops agreed with scores for xylem vessel browning and scores for plants grown in inoculated soil agreed with field scores under natural infection.
