The Letlet/Msg19msg19 heterozygote was obtained from a cross between the translocation heterozygote T6-7m/msg19 as male parent and a tig-o34/let heterozygote. An unusually high number of haploids was found among the progeny of the cross; and the haploid initiator gene hap was subsequently isolated from the tig-o34/let parent.
