The micromorphology of the antennae of the blueberry leaf-tier moth, Croesia curvalana (Kft.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

The micromorphology of the antennae of the blueberry leaf-tier moth, Croesia curvalana (Kft.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

Canadian Journal of Zoology 635: 1189-1193

Croesia curvalana, a pest of blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium) in Atlantic Canada, responds to pheromones, and in connection with this response the micromorphology of the antennae of adults of both sexes was examined in the laboratory. Sensilla trichodea, chaetica, coeloconica, styloconica and auricilla were found, and there were sexual differences in the numbers and distribution of these sensilla. Their distribution was very similar to that described for other tortricids.
