The restriction fragment patterns of chloroplast DNA (ctDNA) from 12 Aegilops species, together with those of common wheat, A. umbellulata and A. squarrosa as standards, were analysed using 8 restriction endonucleases. The sources of the ctDNA were alloplasmic lines and one euplasmic line of common wheat. Nine different chloroplast genomes were identified, and their mutual relatedeness was estimated on the basis of the number of different restriction fragments.
