The mycoflora and some mycotoxins found in maize (Zea mays) in the Plateau State of Nigeria



Veterinary and Human Toxicology 28(1): 1-5



Mouldy maize samples collected during 3 periods of the year were screened for their mycoflora, aflatoxins, ochratoxin A and zearalenone contents. Fusarium spp. were the predominant isolates from maize during the dry harmattan and hot and dry periods, while Neurospora spp. predominated during the hot, humid and wet period.
