The nature of the incorporation of fertilizer nitrogen into proteins of plant vegetative organs

In pot trials, winter wheat given N placed over the entire soil area at a depth of 30 cm gave significantly higher grain yields than when N was placed at a depth of 10 cm or mixed with the top 10-cm soil layer. Effects of the treatments on incorporation of fertilizer 15N into different protein fractions of the leaves during different months of crop growth are described.
