The need for university tourism courses

Reasons why university-level education should be considered important for, and made increasingly available to, specialists working in the tourism field are suggested; these comprise: (1) the economic and social importance of tourism; (2) the increasing complexity of tourism problems, each of which should have a specific course assigned to it; and (3) increasing demand by young specialists for opportunities to undertake research at a high intellectual level.
