The nesting biology of Osmia (Trichinosmia) latisulcata Michener

The nesting biology of Osmia (Trichinosmia) latisulcata Michener

Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society 57(3): 430-436

The nests described were recovered from trap blocks with holes 6 or 9 mm in diameter, lined with drinking straws. Traps were placed in various habitats in S. Utah, USA; all except those in cliff banks were used for nesting by O.latisulcata. More nests were recovered from 6-mm (94) than from 9-mm holes (33). Nest architecture is described; sand grains, masticated leaf pulp and a translucent secreted substance were used in constructing the cells.
