The survival of rabbit morulae preserved in liquid nitrogen after rapid thawing

The survival of rabbit morulae preserved in liquid nitrogen after rapid thawing

Japanese Journal of Animal Reproduction 27(3/4): 157-160

Morulae were recovered 60-65 h after mating from superovulated rabbits and placed in 1 ml plastic straws with phosphate-buffered saline and 1.5 M DMSO. They were slowly cooled (1 degrees C per min) to various temps. ranging from -20 degrees to -70 degrees before transfer to liquid nitrogen, and then stored for 1-30 days. At thawing, the samples were slowly (4 degrees per min) or rapidly (>1000 degrees per min) warmed.
