Thread Flavobacterium sp., a new cold-water facultative fish pathogen

Thread Flavobacterium sp., a new cold-water facultative fish pathogen

Halaszat 30(6): 173-175

Deaths occurred in Holland in 1981 in trout fry reared in water at 6 degrees C, and in Hungary in 1982 in Silurus fry at a water temperature of 5-6 degrees C, also in 1983 in fry (water temperature 11-12 degrees C) and in 1984 in trout fry (water temperature 12 degrees C). The bacterium was isolated from the gills of dead fish, and also from apparently healthy fish. The bacterium was isolated in all four cases on cytophage agar.
