Migrant labor in agriculture: an international comparison: 211-226

Fruit and vegetable production and marketing systems are continuing to evolve from a multitude of dispersed production units operated for producer sustenance and strictly localized consumption, to far fewer operations consisting of highly concentrated specialized production in areas of comparative advantage and worldwide product marketing. Evidence of the change is that fruit and vegetable exports have increased significantly as a share of worldwide production.
