For 40 days 2 groups of 12 Sahiwal and Sahiwal X Garre male calves on average 14 months old and weighing 145 kg were given a pre-trial diet of maize cobs and "maize-soya milk" (made of powdered milk, maize and soya flour) providing crude protein 20.39, ether extract 8.05, ash 5.59, crude fibre 3.40 and nitrogen-free extract 62.57%.
