United States agricultural trade policy and prospects

United States agricultural trade policy and prospects

Journal of Agribusiness 2(1): 4-7

The policy of the 1981-85 USDA administration on international trade, and near term prospects for US agricultural commodities in export markets are examined. Following the decline during fiscal years 1982 and 1983, an upturn in the value of US agricultural exports was projected for 1984. The anticipated increased dollar value is attributed to higher prices, rather than larger volume. The volume of exports was expected to decline for the fourth year in a row, by about 3%, to 140 Mt.
