Vegetative and reproductive response of sorghum to gamma-rays treatment
In 1982-3 seeds of sorghum Giza 3 and Giza 15 were exposed to 0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 kr gamma rays before sowing in the field. The 20 and 40 kr doses increased tiller number in both cv., while plant height and the number of internodes/plant decreased. Plant height at 40 kr was reduced by 16.2 and 17.3% (1982) and 0.05 and 10.0% (1983) for Giza 3 and Giza 15, resp.
