Verminous Pneumonia in Adult Dairy Cows in Southern Ontario due to Dictyocaulus viviparus

, : Verminous Pneumonia in Adult Dairy Cows in Southern Ontario due to Dictyocaulus viviparus. Canadian Veterinary Journal 27(6): 233-236

An outbreak of subacute respiratory disease due to D. viviparus occurred in the autumn of 1983 in a herd of mature Holstein dairy cows that had been closed for 10 years and had not previously experienced clinical D. viviparus infection. A cow that died had parasitic bronchitis and pneumonia, and 20 of the others were excreting larvae. After levamisole therapy the herd became negative for patent infection.

A rapid technique was developed for identifying [mouse fibroblast 3T3] cells in S-phase in transmission electron microscopy of monolayer cultures. Autoradiography was performed on the embedded monolayer which was then re-embedded. The cells and th...

In single Fura-2 ester-loaded hepatocytes, stimulation by vasopressin, but not emptying of the agonist-sensitive Ca-2+ store by 2,5-di-(t-butyl)hydroquinone, resulted in an increase in the rate of Fura-2 fluorescence-quenching by Mn-2+.
