Vertical plate freezer apparatus

, : Vertical plate freezer apparatus. United States Patent (US 4 593 537): 17

The plate freezer apparatus has several vertical refrigeration plates separated from each other by spacer frames to form open topped compartments to receive product to be frozen. The assembly of plates and spacer frames are held together by a compressive force applied by spring tensioned rods. Each plate has a number of wedge surfaces and a plate-separating device engages the wedge surfaces of an adjacent pair of plates to enable the spacer frame and frozen material between to be withdrawn.
