In the context of nursery work, vigour is defined as the potential of seed for rapid, uniform emergence and development of normal seedlings. Methods of vigour testing used in the SLU seed laboratory, Umea, Sweden are described including the use of a thermogradient table for determining germination tolerance at different temperatures.
