Virulence of three strains of Metarhizium anisopliae against adults of Cylas formicarius elegantulus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

, : Virulence of three strains of Metarhizium anisopliae against adults of Cylas formicarius elegantulus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). Ciencia e Tecnica en la Agricultura, Proteccion de Plantasrecd 1986; 7(1): 129-136

The virulence of 3 strains of Metarhizium anisopliae (PIC, 4 and 44) against adults of the apionid Cylas formicarius elegantulus, a pest of sweet potato, was assessed in Cuba. The weevils were confined for 3 min with conidia and were subsequently kept at 25 degrees C for 12 days, the mortality being recorded daily. All 3 gave a high level of mortality (44.28-50.0%), though the effect of strain PIC was somewhat more rapid than that of the other strains.
