The close relationship between beet mild yellowing virus and an American str. of beet western yellows virus was confirmed by immunodiffusion tests. A virus from oilseed rape reacted strongly in ELISA with antisera to both BMYV and BWYV. An improved technique was developed for purifying beet mosaic virus.
