Investigations on the wood extractives of these three pine species were reviewed to give a comparison of the extractive contents, composition of fatty acids, resin acids, turpentine and unsaponifiables. Compositions of Pinus sylvestris and Pinus nigra were found not to differ considerably from each other. Pinus brutia, however, had a different composition both in acidic fraction and unsaponifiables.
