Histological studies were conducted on unions between the compatible scion/rootstock combination Hedelfingen/Prunus avium F12/1 and the incompatible combinations Hedelfingen/P. padus and Charmes/P. cerasus Weiroot 11. To standardize grafting, a machine (Pfropfmeister PM 450) was used which cuts an omega profile in the rootstock and scion wood. The start of callusing was temperature-dependent.
