Alkaline phosphatase and phosphodiesterase activities of the brush border membrane of four strains of the tapeworm, Hymenolepis diminuta

Qualitative and quantitative differences in alkaline phosphatase and phosphodiesterase activities were seen in 4 laboratory strains of H. diminuta (ANU, ARME, TOR and OSU). The pH optima of the 2 activities did not differ among the strains, but values for Vmax, Km app and/or Ki' did. All the tapeworms were the same age (6 days).
