An analysis of cost, productivity and returns of rice production in Bangladesh: a case study of two villages

A major effort to increase food production in Bangladesh has been made through the introduction of improved rice technology in the mid-1960s, otherwise known as the Green Revolution. Despite this, the economic condition of the villagers has not improved, inequality has widened, resources have been polarized, and real incomes have declined. Productivity and product prices are lagging behind production costs.
