An approach to rural transformation in Nigeria, the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructure

Lack of continuity, consistency and commitment to policy implementation has characterized attempts by governments since independence to improve living conditions in rural areas, and has greately affected the general state of development in Nigeria. Previous efforts had no impact on the living standards of rural dwellers; this therefore called for a critical examination of the whole rural development policy and of strategies for achieving the set goals.
